General Background and Timeline

  • 1269 – The horde is assisting Vladamir-Suzdal in evicting Germans from the Russian territory of Narva. Some villages fought to defend their homes, but most are killed or chased off the land. A handful of the Germanic villagers are taken captive to be sold in the south. Among them was a 9 year old girl with bright blue eyes and long golden blonde hair. She was alone, she was afraid, but she was also a clever survivor. On the night of her 13 year, after proving herself with a tawny stallion, the Khan removed the collar from her neck. He put her hand on her horse, stating that the golden horse belonged to the golden girl, who was now a part of the Golden Horde and he named her Altansarnai.
  • 1276: Altansarnai becomes the second wife of the next Khan of the Kahnate. One of the several Grandsons of the Great Khan who united the hordes. When his first wife dies in childbirth, she is given the place of first wife. She gives birth to three daughters and four sons during her marriage. During those years, she is adviser to her husband and later to her sons. She rides into battle with them and is known to be one of their best shots with the bow. She is honorable, fearless, wise, and respected. She is married to the Khan for 20 years before he dies in battle. In the Mongol way, she inherits his lands and holdings and does not remarry.
  • 1296: Civil war between the Mongol hordes has been raging off and one for decades. Often these battles where between brothers and rivals for Khan. Altansarnai’s oldest son fought such a battle with his half-brother shortly after the death of their father. It was during this battle that Altansarnai was shot in the chest with an arrow. Many said this was targeted, to remove her counsel from her son. The battle raged and moved on as she lay dying.
  • 1296: Altasarnai was embraced on the battle field by an unknown Gangrel. As she lay dying, eyesight blurred, a huge warrior takes her last breath and then gives her eternal life. By the time she awakes, he is gone. Altasarnai is left to figure out her new condition on her own. Over the coming weeks, she also uses her new found gifts to help her son win the battle.
  • 1300 – 1500’s: Altani Khan rides with Mongol horde until they settle down into a less nomadic life. Over the years she embraces those she deems worthy of the blood. Looking for those who are nomadic, intelligent, honorable, warriors. She does not discriminate based on race, religion or sex. Her childer range from Norse to Native American.
  • 1492: Convention of Thorns and the Formation of the Camarilla. Altani Khan has been fighting to defend against the Anarchs during the revolts. She is there when the Camarilla forms, though she does not initially join the sect. Believing that there may not be a place for wanderers in the newly formed union. She still lends aid in the fight and by the mid 1500’s she is fully invested in the Sect and its success.
  • 1600 – 1800: New world. Altani Khan was one of the earlier Kindred to move west in the new world. The love of horses and the freedom of the plains, called to her strongly. Among the southwestern Native American tribes she found a home and on more than one occasion led them to victory against those who would invade the land. Ultimately, this battle was lost and Altani Khan went into torpor.
  • 1900 – 2000: The industrial and later technical revolutions changed the world. She spends time trying to adapt to modern society and while she has some small success in this area, she struggles with the modern age, preferring to let her descendants rule the night. Altani Khan establishes a large compound in the western desert of the New World where she breeds horses and hosts small gatherings, engaging in the political Jyhad just enough to establish a safe home for her descendants. She is still a force to be reckoned with and is able to call on her line when the Sect is in need of warriors.
  • 2000-modern day: When the Gangrel left the Camarilla, Altani Khan and most of her line stayed loyal to the sect. Embittered by the loss of their standing as a pillar clan, she reluctantly agreed to ally with Clan Tremere to help reestablish the clan in the Sect.
