Parking at the IMU
In Bloomington, there are two parking enforcement authorities: the City of Bloomington and Campus Parking Division. City parking tickets run about $20. Campus parking tickets tend closer to $100. Warning: Parking in alleys near campus is controlled by IU campus parking division, with strict parking pass requirements at all times and expensive parking tickets!
Without a campus parking permit, All CH lots are open, but only on the weekends. We do warn that IU Campus Parking is famous for its vigilance! Beware!
There are two parking lots for the Biddle Hotel at the IMU itself, and there is street parking on nearby streets.
IMU Parking Lots
Before parking, you may want to look over the full information about Parking at the IMU, where rates, rules, lot map, etc. can be found. Generally, the IMU parking lot is a pay-to-leave lot: get a ticket going in, pay at the booth going out (cash only). A receipt from a purchases inside the IMU (food court, gift shop, etc.) can reduce the parking rates. For special event days, parking in these lots costs $10 as you enter, instead. These special event parking changes tend to catch us locals by surprise, too. In general, special event parking rates don't take effect until the evening hours.
On days with no special event parking, you can generally enter (free) and park, and then wait until after 11:00 P.M. to leave, after which point the parking booth is not staffed, and so it's de facto free to leave the lot.
The City of Bloomington Parking Services has three kinds of parking control: limited weekday daytime parking hours (i.e., 30-minute or 1-hour or 2-hour parking), Downtown parking meters, and weekday residential neighborhood permit parking on the streets. Limited hours parking and residential neighborhood parking permits are not in effect on weeknights after 5:00 P.M. or on weekends.
You can find metered street parking on the city parking meter map. You can also look up City of Bloomington Downtown Parking Rates & Policies.
Parallel street parking can be found on the blocks north of 7th St. and west of Woodlawn Ave. Warning: Parking in ALLEYS near campus is controlled by IU campus parking division, with strict parking pass requirements at all times and expensive parking tickets!
Thanks to our status as a student organization at Indiana University, the Domain of Bloomington IN-013-D gets access to IU campus spaces free of charge most months. Thus, except for more expensive events such as Featured Games of the Month, our domain does not solicit site fees. Donations to the domain fund are always welcome, though!
Social EventsOn occasion, our domain may sponsor food for locals and guests between our games (e.g., pizza for everyone). When we do this, we want members to be welcome to join us, even if they have no cash to donate. However, those who CAN donate and are willing to so as to help reduce the impact of such events on our domain fund should see the Domain Coordinator on site.
