First off I wanted to say thank you for all the wonderful survey responses. So far we have over 300 responses and the survey is still open until 7/31. We're learning a lot about what you, the members, are looking for and we're excited to put that into practice. Now for the July through September National Charity Drive, we're going to revisit an old favorite and do a book drive through First Book. But we are changing up the way charity reporting works so please read through the instructions even if you've donated before.
First Book is truly doing great work helping to bridge the gap and bring educational tools to more than 5 million children and educators a year. They focus on low-income communities and families, helping to bridge the education gap with tools ranging from books to even jackets and food. We're so happy to support them so let's show them some love!
This drive will run from July 5 through September 30, 2018.
So first off is where the donations are going! All monetary donations must
be through First Book at https://firstbook.org/
Goods or time donations can be through any public library OR through any
501-c-3 classified charity which focuses on providing educational tools to

The cap for donations is 30 per month, and the current rate for donations
is as follows:

<Current Regional Charity Drive>
Hello Great Lakes Region!
With MEScon behind us, we're ready to launch a new Regional Charity Event!
From today(July 28th) until September 30th, we'll be challenging all domains to a charity war! Domains will be competing to win an amazing prize from our very own RST! Paul has agreed to write a plot for a VSS for the winning domain.
The Charity of the quarter is *Ronald McDonald House of the Upper Midwest* .
"Our mission. We, in partnership with our community, provide a comfortable and caring home-away-from-home that supports keeping families together and reduces stress during a child’s serious illness."
Ronald McDonald House has multiple locations throughout the Midwest that help keep families closer to children going through intensive care and long hospital stays.
You can make a monetary donation, donate needed items, or even volunteer! There will be a limit of *30R *prestige for this charity per month. We will be keeping track of everyone's donations via a points system . The points system is not directly reflective of the prestige points that will be awarded, it is only for tracking purposes . The rules/points system is listed below:
The rules are simple:
1) Each domain will donate for our charity.
2) Every monetary donation is counted as 1 point per 1 dollar.
3) Donations of materials will be counted as 2 points per item.
4) Donations of your time will be counted as 3 points per hour.
4) The goal is to get the most points by the end of the two months while helping out an amazing charity.
You can donate directly to the website of the charity if you so choose.
Make sure you screen shot your receipt , your donated items, or your volunteer hours (signed by someone at the charity) and send it to your *DC* and the *aRC Charities* at email@example.com in order to gain the prestige. Standard prestige rules apply. They can be found in the MH on page 30-31.
