“A spider's web is stronger than it looks. Although it is made of thin, delicate strands, the web is not easily broken.”
- Charlotte’s Web - E.B. White
Charlotte was born on June 6, 1816 in Marblehead, MA, in the Year without Summer. Her birth was accompanied by 6 inches of snowfall, and the death of her mother. Before embrace, she had light grey eyes and long dark hair. She was an only child and her father was a fisherman, so she was mostly raised by a nearby maternal aunt. As she grew, she was always different and people avoided her. She displayed extreme curiosity and intelligence, and attempted on more than one occasion to sneak into libraries and take books she was not supposed to read. In 1838 she pushed herself into Mount Holyoke Female Seminary and began to learn, insatiably, focusing predominantly on the natural sciences and mathematics. She embodied the mission of the founder, “Go where no one else will go, do what no one else will do.” - Mary Lyon. Along with the more traditional fields of study, however, she became fascinated with the occult history of the area. She obsessed frequently over her year of birth and what could have caused it. Many suggested that it was witches, and she began to ask questions and dive deeply into the occult. After a few years learning at Mount Holyoke, she returned to the coast and began to research on her own in Boston and Salem, looking into occult and witches. In 1843, she stumbled across Ludovic Pétion. He then, impressed by her intelligence and curiosity, ghouled her and shortly thereafter embraced her.
