Known History

Javier was born in 1984 in the now lost Sept of Unity, which was located in Balboa Park, San Diego, California. His father was Itzál Acosta, "Sings-of-the-Lost," an Uktena Galliard, and his mother was Evangelina Escarrá, Bastet kinfolk. Though the two never did marry, Itzál was very much a part of both of their lives until he disappeared into the depths of the Umbra. Evangelina raised Javier while working in environmental law on the behalf of the Sept. Still, she did have the assistance of her brother, Tristan Escarrá, "Scents-the-Fallen," a Bastet Ahroun.

Evangelina died of cancer in 1995. Javier was given over to his father's kin, who were of the of the Kumeyaay people. Tristan was devastated by the loss of his sister and disappeared shortly after her death.

After his mother's death, the sept and that life seemed to take on a new distance. Javier became as normal as a kinfolk could become. He attended high school, then college. His great uncle and aunt who were raised him watched for the Change, but as time passed, they imagined Javier would live his life as a kinfolk. When he moved to Los Angeles in 2006 to attend UCLA for their graduate Art Conservation program, they were proud of what he had become.

In Los Angeles, he became a peripheral part of the Sept of Shadowed Wisdom in Griffith Park. After graduating from UCLA in 2009, he started to work in art restoration at a private firm. Life was starting to find a rhythm for him in the big city and then the Dark Brigade attacked. The Sept of Shadowed Wisdom started to move their kinfolk, and Javier was invited to accompany an Uktena Philodox, Yenifer “Honors-the-Ways" Benítez, south to Mexico. He accepted and left the United States in 2011.

Javier experienced his First Change in Mexico City and was adopted into the Yenifer's pack, Silence Before Thunder. He advanced quickly in the Nation, using his skills and patience that came with the maturity gained from a late change. After two years as a Garou, he achieved the rank of Adren.

And then came Javier's fall. The exact details of what happened is no longer spoken about, for that is the nature of the Satire Rite. Once it is performed, you no longer speak of the why. It is done, and you move on. As a result though in 2016, he was deeded Sits-On-Hands and became Fostern. He left Mexico City and his pack shortly thereafter.

Javier wandered Mexico thereafter, visiting San Miguel de Allende, Guadalajara, Oaxaca, and many other places. Though he introduced himself where there were septs, he did not seek Garou out. Instead he sought out the national treasures of art and architecture of the country. Tales of his travels ended when he entered southern Mexico in 2017.

He suddenly reappeared in San Diego in late 2018 only a couple of weeks after his cousin, Hector Acosta, went through his First Change. He has since joined the Sept of the New Dawn and helped form the pack, Seekers of the Forgotten.

  • When Javier was born, the local sept had a pool going as to whether he would shift as a Garou or Bastet.
  • That might be Javier's body that came back from Mexico, but there is someone else upstairs.
  • Javier and Yenifer had mated before his Change. Possibly even after.
  • Something happened to Javier while away from the Nation. He wasn't always able to speak to Banes.
  • The man acts too much like a Galliard. Perhaps it was the stories his father told him when he was young. He’s also said to be born at Dawn, when the Galliards of the Bastet are born.
