Saajida is a beautiful woman of Persian descent, with light tan skin, dark hair, and dark eyes. She prefers to wear traditional Islamic garb but without hijab or other head covering, and depending on the situation and occasion, she will wear western fashions as well.
Saajida was born the daughter of a minor noble in the city of Basra during the transition from the Umayyad Caliphate to the Abbasid Caliphate at the end of the 7th Century. Despite her privileged position, she held two secrets: a romantic attraction to women and a love of scholarship, both being forbidden paths to her. She kept these secrets from her family, but never overlooked the opportunity to acquire new Islamic texts or Zoroastrian writings, claiming that she was saving them for her future sons. When an Arab-centric governor came to power, all persian texts were repressed, and her purchases were noted. Before the authorities were able to capture her and her cache of ancient writings, Gersakkun appeared and slew her attackers. When asked why she sought the texts, Saajida’s words moved the ancient vampire, who Embraced her. In time, Saajida became a powerful figure in the region, taking care to shape scholarship and learning via mortal agents and her childer. By the time of the Anarch Revolt, she was aghast at the diablerie perpetuated by some of her contemporaries and her allies within Clan Assamite. It seemed likely that she and her lineage would join the Camarilla when it was founded, but with the Treaty of Tyre and fearing the alienation of her scholarly contemporaries in Clan Assamite, she opted to remain outside of any vampire Sect. She remained in the Middle East until the rise of the Ottoman Empire, and then disappeared. She has been occasionally sighted in various vampire courts over the past centuries.
Saajida has visited members of her lineage in the United States and in various areas of the Middle East, but her night to night location is unknown.
