Tanika ‘Storm’s Grace’ Dvorak is a homid Athro Shadow Lord Philodox in her mid-30s. She was one of the Shadow Lords who helped to negotiate the return of the Stargazers, and has twice almost died defending a caern. This cost her her then-pack, and has left her blind in one eye and partially crippled, but no less effective or dedicated in her Philodox duties.
She's a member of the Judges of Doom, and takes her duties and responsibilities very seriously. She's very firm on interpretations of the Litany, and is known to dig and dig until she gets to the bottom of things. She has a very sharp tongue, and is known to be very hard on Litany violaters.
Tanika is an odd mix of idealist and pragmatist, 100% dedicated to her role, holds everyone to strict standards (the higher in rank you are, what tribe you belong to, your lineage, and anything else that you use or lay claim to in order to boost your own respect and image within the Nation all influence just how high a standard she holds you to), but she's also a Shadow Lord, and so is often fine with some dubious means in order to get to the desired end. She also believes that worth and respect are things that you don't just earn once, then rest on your laurels. They're things that you have to continually prove to be worthy of.
She's utterly loyal to tribe, camp, nation, sept, pack, and friends, but that loyalty will never make her overlook harmful transgressions, or lead her to be easier on members of the above. She is, in fact, more likely to be harder on those she holds to a higher standard by virtue of tribe/rank/previous interactions/etc.
Born in the US in 1981 to a Shadow Lord father and Gurahl Kin mother, Tanika Dvorak had a relatively calm upbringing. She had her First Change at the stroke of midnight on January 1, 2001, and passed her Rite of Passage a few months later. In 2003, she attained the rank of Fostern, as well as graduating from law school and going to intern at the local DA office.
Within a few years, she was balancing sept duties with assistant DA work, and attained Adren in 2006. Everything was going as well as it could be, until caerns started falling at a disturbing rate. At one of the failed last battles for a caern, Tanika was critically injured and survived only due to her Gurahl cousin pulling her from the battlefield and healing her. Unfortunately, not even the gifts of the Gurahl were able to completely heal the vicious hamstring injury she suffered from a particularly nasty Bane, leaving her permanently missing a chunk of muscle from her leg.
In 2011, Tanika was part of a contingent of Shadow Lords who were sent east by the tribe to contact their old allies, the Stargazers, and convince them to return to the Nation. The mission was successful, with the Stargazers not only returning but bringing additional Fera allies with them to help save the remaining 13 septs. Towards the end of this year, Tanika gained the rank of Athro.
She spent the next few years as a regular visitor to, and then member of, the new sept in Puerto Rico, and began working part-time as an Assistant DA there. When it was attacked by Wyrm forces in 2016, Tanika fought in the caern's defence. The caern ultimately fell due to divisiveness amongst the Uktena leadership, and Tanika was left with a second permanent battle scar; this one costing her one of her eyes.
